DISSOLVING
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase. This enzyme naturally occurs in our skin but can be injected at higher concentrations in order to rapidly remove unwanted filler. The enzyme is a powder that is mixed with saline and then this solution is injected into the area where the filler has been placed.
The filler will be broken down and will disappear in a matter of minutes. However, the results of the treatment are usually only apparent after 24 hours (once any swelling has gone down).
A full face to face consultation will be required to be carried out prior to any filling being dissolved. This is due to looking at the area of concern, how much filler is to be dissolved and taking full medical history so we can advise to on any pre and post aftercare.
A patch test is required at least 20 minutes prior to injection of the hyaluronidase enzyme. This is to check for any immediate allergic reactions that would mean it is not safe to inject the hyaluronidase enzyme.
If the area is too refilled, we advise a minimum of 2 weeks before placing any further filler to the area to ensure the area has had sufficient time to settle.
